I am wanting to start over on the licensing for MS Server OS. How many licenses do I need IF:
2 Physical servers with 2 twelve core processors-So that would be 48 cores which equates to ordering 24 Windows Server Standard.
Will have 10-12 vms (total) between the physical servers so how many more licenses do I need?
Does that equip to needing the total number x $8 administration fee? Then what will I pay on top of that?
You need 12 of those $8 LVS-47862 license for each server. So two servers = 24.
Each license allows 2 VMs. That means you will need to license 8 more VMs in order to run 12VMs. That is the same as licensing 4 more physical servers at 16 core each. So, 4 more servers = (16/2) x 4 = 32.
In total, you'll need to get 24 + 32 = 56 LVS-47862 = $448
