Megaphone is an international event with an "unconference" spirit that provides space for collaborative discussions and peer-to-peer learning to brainstorm new ideas between activists, action groups, and NGOs who are struggling in the era of misinformation and social media algorithms. #MEGAPHONE2018 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, November 13-15, 2018. The conference is for activists from Central Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The working language of the event is English, so good command of the language is necessary.
TechSoup Europe at MEGAPHONE will help activist from Central Eastern Europe and Central Asia to understand:
If you are an activist from Central Eastern Europe and Central Asia and you wish to attend, you must apply to do so before 5th of October. Email MEGAPHONE@techsoup.org if you wish to attend (say where you are in the world, what NGO or cause you represent, why you want to attend, etc.). The final group will be contacted by the 10th of October. Romania is a member of the European Union but not part of the Schengen Area. That is why participants from outside EU are asked to check the formalities involved in traveling to Romania.
TechSoup covers all costs of travel and accommodation for the event. "The working sessions will take place on the 14-15th of November but due to limited capacity of Cluj-Napoca airport we’ll organize the travel for the participant on the 13th of November. For the return flights – some will leave on the 15th and others on the 16th. We cover all 3 nights of participants’ stay."
And if you are looking for resources for addressing misinformation campaigns, I have a series of web pages on the subject here: http://www.coyotecommunications.com/development/folklore.html
