Hi Guys- I an coming into a nonprofit pregnancy center as their bookkeeper, data entry person and their QB is pretty outdated (2014) and not properly organized to where we are using the full potential. The main issue is, it is connected with a program called ekyros, where it feeds into QB. We are looking to upgrade to Nonprofit QB, but I'm wondering a couple things. 1st- we have to have the desktop version- the ekryos program will not run on the online version I am told. Is the version that we can get through here, hard copy/desktop or is it online only? And 2- do you think I would be better off starting over from scratch- or are there some tricks I'm not thinking of to organize/utilize this program better to be more resourceful for us?
You can upgrade your QuickBooks to the latest version. and as you mentioned QuickBooks online is not workable in your case then you can move to QuickBooks Hosting services where you can host your desktop version of QuickBooks on the cloud and start access it from anywhere anytime on any devices with real-time reports. It will also help you to Enhance the productivity and efficiency of your Quickbooks application.
and if you want to host your QuickBooks 2014 version on the cloud, I believe hosting providers host the previous version of QuickBooks as well, Just check with your hosting provider.
I would recommend hosting the latest version of QuickBooks Non-Profit on the cloud as it can solve most of your issues. You can get benefits of cloud with the features of the QuickBooks desktop application. Moreover, if the software program Ekyros is compatible with the desktop version of QB, you won't face any issues while running it on the hosted version as well.
For your second query, it is advisable to utilize the current program itself rather than starting from scratch. The data will be exported directly to the cloud servers. Also, you can contact QB's support, and they can assist you in upgrading and importing of data.
I hope this information would be of some help.
